After security, Schengen gates 1 to 7 are in one area and non-Schengen gates 8 to 11 in another. The Primeclass lounge is airside in Schengen Departures, opposite Gate 23. The Zagreb Airport Map

The current terminal opened in 2017 and is compact end to end. Most travelers cross from check-in to gate in under ten minutes. The illustration below shows the key zones, services, and gate areas of the building. For the wider airport picture, see our Zagreb Airport overview; for a step-by-step walkthrough of how the space flows, see our full terminal walkthrough.

If you need a map before our illustration is live, the official airport site publishes its own version on the Zagreb Airport website under "At the Airport > Airport Map." For our amenity-by-amenity reference, see the full airport services page.

Layout by Level

The terminal is organised vertically across functional levels, with separate flows for arrivals and departures.

Ground floor (Arrivals)

The ground floor is the arrivals level. Both Schengen and non-Schengen arrival gates feed here, the latter through passport control first. Three baggage carousels handle bag delivery, followed by customs lanes and the public Meet & Greet area. The Public Car Park and Kiss & Fly approach is directly in front of the terminal on this level, and the taxi rank, ZET bus 290 stop, Pleso shuttle pickup, and rideshare zone are all immediately outside the arrivals doors. Full step-by-step is on our Arrivals information page.

Landside services on the ground floor: ATMs from multiple Croatian banks, the IN KAPITAL currency exchange counter, a Tisak newsstand, free baggage trolleys at the carousel ranks, all car rental desks (Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Sixt, Budget, Enterprise, plus local operators), and an Aelia Duty Free pop-up shop in the baggage claim area for arrivals duty-free purchases.

Level 2 (Departures and check-in, landside)

Level 2 holds the public departures concourse. 45 check-in counters run in several rows along the hall with overhead screens, plus self-service kiosks for participating airlines. The Information Desk is in the centre. The Lost Property Office sits on this level landside, open daily 08:00 to 18:00. Café Nero and other landside cafes are spread along the hall, with a quieter mezzanine seating area along the back wall. The Kiss & Fly drop-off zone feeds directly into Level 2 at the entrance. For procedural detail, see Departures information.

The single security checkpoint is on this level. All passengers, Schengen and non-Schengen alike, go through the same security; the split between zones happens after.

Airside (post-security)

Once you clear security and any required passport check, the airside concourse opens onto Duty Free (Aelia), more cafes, water fountains, charging points, the NeedStop mini-market, and the gates themselves. The Primeclass lounge is in the Schengen part of airside, on Level 2 opposite Gate 23.

Gates Map

Schengen gates (1 to 7)

For flights to Schengen countries (Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Spain, Czechia, the Netherlands, and so on). Located in the Schengen Departures area after security, with no passport control on the way to the gate. The Primeclass Business Lounge sits in this area, opposite Gate 23 (the lounge's signage references Gate 23 even though the main jet bridge gates are numbered 1 to 7; higher-numbered bus boarding gates for remote stands sit in the same zone).

A small children's play area is near Gates 4 and 5, airside, with soft surfaces and basic equipment. Useful for burning off energy during a layover.

Non-Schengen gates (8 to 11)

For flights to non-Schengen destinations (UK, USA, UAE, Qatar, Serbia, Turkey, Bosnia, North Macedonia, and others). Passport control is required to enter this area from the main departures lounge, so add a few minutes for that step at busy times. A second children's play area sits near Gates 12 and 13 in this part of the building.

Getting To and Around the Map

Ground transport options all use the area directly in front of the terminal on the ground floor: ZET bus 290, Pleso Prijevoz shuttle, taxis from the rank, Bolt and Uber from the dedicated rideshare zone, and pre-booked private transfers from the meet-and-greet area inside arrivals. Rental car desks are inside the arrivals hall, with vehicle pickup in the adjacent car park. For a side-by-side breakdown of times and fares, see our guide to transport options from the airport.

Insider Tips for Navigating the Zagreb Airport Layout

You probably don't need the map once you're inside. The terminal is small and signage in Croatian and English is consistently good. The map matters more for orienting before you arrive than for using on the move.

Follow the "Transfer" signs early if you're connecting across zones. Schengen-to-Schengen stays airside with no passport check. Non-Schengen-to-Schengen (and the reverse) crosses passport control between zones, so allow extra time and follow signage from the moment you reach airside.

The Schengen / non-Schengen split happens after security. If you have lounge access and a non-Schengen flight, use the Primeclass lounge before passing through passport control. Once you cross to the non-Schengen side, the lounge is on the wrong side and not reachable.

The Public Car Park entrance is directly in front of the terminal. If you're picking someone up and don't want to circle the Kiss & Fly zone, just park; the walk to the arrivals door is under a minute and the first stretch is free in the short-stay lot.
